The idea of creating a logo for the record label company they created in 1971 came from Mick Jagger. That same year, The Rolling Stones recorded the album 'Sticky Fingers' under its own record label, whose cover was designed by Andy Warhol, reason why some people have the wrong idea that it was Warhol who designed the logo that first appeared on that album.

It's believed that the logo was influenced by the Hindu goddess Kali.
