description

You may have seen someone you love with a semicolon tattoo. Or maybe you have one yourself, and know the significance of that particular symbol.

The Project Semicolon is a faith-based non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction and thoughts of self-harm.

The movement started in 2013, after founder Amy Bleul lost her father to suicide. People who struggle with mental illness or support the cause are encouraged to get a tattoo or draw a semicolon on any part of their body as a support for the movement. As you can read in the site “A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The sentence is your life and the author is you.”

Click here to know more about this movement.
