description
Coming from ancient Egypt, the ankh is a hieroglyphic character that means "life", and for the Pharaohs it was an indispensable lucky charm. The Ankh depicts inmortality and life, and it's also connected with Isis and the planet Venus.
The gods were often depicted holding an ankh, representing their life-giving power, and were also depicted in tombs giving ankh signs to pharaohs. This was considered as granting life to the entire nation, as pharaohs represented Egypt as a whole. The ankh is frequently seen with two other hieroglyphs: djed (meaning stability) and was (meaning strength).
