The Aegishjalmur, also known as the Helm of Awe, is a symbol found in the Icelandic magical staves, a collection of symbols and sigils used for various purposes in Norse magic. The Aegishjalmur is a circular symbol with eight arms or branches, each ending in a trident-like shape. It is said to provide protection and power to the person who wears it, and was often used in Viking warfare. Like the Vegvisir, the Aegishjalmur is not a rune.
