description
Women had always been subject to the dictates of society from our appearance to the way we think. Defying the norm, however, distinguishes us. Khamil Batuigas is such a woman. Down the history of tattoos in the Philippines, she organized P.Inked (Pilipinas Inked) in 2012 and designed it to showcase the work and skills of women tattoo artists. Tattoos, once taboo, are now mainstream and yes, women are also in on the work!
P.Inked 2016 will be the 5th annual Pilipinas Inked tattoo art show featuring 17 tattoo competition categories including Female Tattoo Artist among the on-the-spot categories and Best Female in the premade categories. On stage is a 13-band lineup to pump the party vibe throughout the night. Watch out for performances by Coffee Break Island, Talata, Talahib People’s Music, Gazera, Four Sikatuna and many more. Front and center will be 2 live tattoo demos by master tattoo artists Joel Rocafort (color portrait tattoos) and Beng Espiritu (oriental tattoos). Art Fusion will also be on wherein media artists collaborate with tattoo artists on canvasses. Their artwork will be up for auction and the proceeds will go to a charity for women’s health.
Take a drive to the wild side and free up your Friday, October 21st. Ride on over to Palacio de Maynila at Roxas Boulevard, Malate. Gates open at 2 p.m. Dare to bare with tattoos! It’s the story of your life on your skin. The question is: Are you man enough?
